After a busy couple of weeks travelling to visit various people around Europe, I thought I should probably update my blog.
A few weeks ago I visited Emily in Angoulême, although little did I know that I was not the only person in France who would be travelling to the usually quiet town of Angoulême for the same four days that I was there for. It turned out that 100,000s of Bande-Desinée (essentially comics) fans were also flocking to Angoulême for the very famous annual BD festival which just happened to be taking place at the same time as I was there!
We did lots of fun things during my short stay, which mainly involved eating so both Emily and I were very happy! We spent a lovely day in Poitiers despite pouring rain, got to enjoy a marching band playing Beyoncé during one of our evenings out in Angoulême, and even became champions winning a mass game of monopoly with all of Emily's flat mates in her alarming looking tower style accommodation!
The week after visiting Angoulême it snowed here in Sète, which caused great excitement as it is a very rare happening in this usually mild climate! My students were so excited, and I managed to teach them how to say 'It's snowing' so that they could tell all their friends in English!
At the end of this very short school term, we were off on another two week break, so I flew home to England and spent the first week in Warwick and Plymouth, which was great to see some friendly faces and catch up, and then I flew out to Madrid with the rest of my family to see my sister, who is currently an au pair, for the second week. It was lovely to be reunited as a family and we enjoyed ourselves exploring the beautiful city of Madrid and experiencing some of its local delicacies such as churros, tapas, and the hundred mini sandwiches restaurant that Lucy kept going on about at Christmas!
Anyway, now it's back to work, and now I'm working three days a week pretty much all term (shock, horror!!!) due to more of those 'fun days' that I've already done some of. The weather is getting warme and sunnier already so I'm looking forward to some more beach trips, which is crazy to think of considering it's only the end of February!
